Postform laminate countertops are made with a pre formed backsplash and edges so that the laminate can be rolled over to create a single directional seamless piece of laminate. Postform countertops are different from custom laminate countertops for this reason. Our laminate products include over 1 500 colors more than 20 countertop edge styles tools hardware wood and much more to choose from. The technical specifications are that decorative papers saturated in melamine resin are combined with phenolic soaked kraft layers at pressures above 750 psi and temperatures close to 300 degrees fahrenheit.

The word postform comes from the original manufacturing process by which the laminate is formed curved with heat blocks and glue. The backsplash is curved to form a one piece no seam option. Usually some extra formations of wood aptly named built down sticks are made and attached to the underside of the receiving substrate. Once the laminate has been shaped and cut it is time to make sure the substrate accepts the laminates easily.

For the postforming process a sheet of laminate is heated to soften the resins in the material letting the laminate bend more.
